SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The team many believed to be the leader for Stephone Anthony changed its head…
Keeping his options open
OLB Stephone Anthony Profile Anson County High School (Wadesboro, N.C.) senior linebacker Stephone Anthony is one of the most highly touted prospects playing in this year's game. Clemson coaches visited Anthony twice in the last two weeks. Defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele made an in-home visit and a stop by the school in the last two weeks. The in-home visit was on the first day coaches were allowed to hit the road. "My parents enjoyed them a lot," Anthony told CUTigers after Monday morning's Shrine Bowl practice at Spartanburg High School. "It was real fun to talk to them." Florida, Virginia Tech, LSU, Georgia and N.C. State have sent coaches to Anson recently. Official visits to Florida, Clemson, Virginia Tech and N.C. State are scheduled in January. The trip to Tigertown is setup for the weekend of the football team banquet (Jan. 14-16). "I'm just looking for a great to place and a great environment," Anthony said. Is there an order of favorites among those schools? "They're all even," he said. The Scout.com five-star outside linebacker is playing inside linebacker in the Tarheels' 3-4 front this week. "The first practice went good. There's a lot of energy, a lot of good things on the defensive side of the ball," Anthony said. "We've just got to continue to work and play together." He's familiar with what's being asked of him on the field. "It's the same thing we ran at Anson. It's a little different with terminology and some different things we do," Anthony said.
