Clemson first to offer in-state WR
Clemson has been on the recruiting radar Quinshad Davis' quite some time now.
The Gaffney High School junior wide receiver received an offer from the Tigers earlier this week.
"They've been recruiting me for the last two years, and they're the first one to offer me, so it means a lot to get an offer from them," Davis said.
South Carolina's offer came a day later.
"I wasn't expecting it," he said. "They just up and offered me. It just shows my talent, I guess."
Davis hopes more offers will be extended his way now that Clemson got the ball rolling.
"I'm hearing from Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina, N.C. State, just about everybody in the Southeast," he said.
For now, he claims no leaders—it's still too early in the process.
The Scout.com three-star spent three days at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp this summer. There, he worked extensively with wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Jeff Scott.
"We keep in touch often," Davis said.
To date, his only visits are to Clemson and South Carolina.
Davis visited Clemson for the spring game and the Miami game. He's been to one game at South Carolina.
As a junior, Davis had 95 catches for 1,486 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Former Gaffney teammate, Joe Craig, is finishing up his redshirt freshman season at Clemson.
"We talk every now and again when he comes home," Davis said. "We really don't talk about school, we just hang out."
