McNeal talks about Napier departure

Clemson quarterback commitment Tony McNeal talks to CUTigers about the big change on Clemson's coaching staff. Is he still firm to the Tigers?

QB Tony McNeal Profile

The first quarterback to commit to Clemson's 2011 class is sticking to his word.

CUTigers spoke with the Chester High School senior shortly after he got word that offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Billy Napier was let go on Sunday afternoon.

"Coach Napier, he's a good guy," McNeal said. "He did a good job at Clemson. I hate to see him go, but I wish him the best of luck in the future."

The Scout.com three-star quarterback committed to Clemson almost year to the day that news broke on Napier and running backs coach/special teams coordinator Andre Powell.

McNeal told CUTigers in late December that he still planned to enroll early.

That's still on, too.

"I just feel like, now that he's gone, I just want to go ahead and get in there and try to learn the new offense, whatever it might be," McNeal said.

"I just want to do my best. With a new coordinator, it's like a new beginning for all of us, to just start from the ground and work ourselves all the way up to the top."
