CUTigers has learned the 2011 recruiting class will not include running back Marlin Lane.
Waiting to hear from Dabo
At school on Wednesday, Lane was told that wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Jeff Scott will be by Mainland High School (Daytona Beach, Fla.) on Thursday.
For Lane, it's already been one wild start to 2011.
On Sunday, Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier and running backs coach Andre Powell were fired on Sunday.
Former Clemson defensive ends coach Chris Rumph, who served as Lane's main recruiter to Clemson, accepted the defensive line coach position at Alabama.
Lane talked to Rumph shortly after accepting his new job.
"I'm thinking it was around lunchtime," Lane told CUTigers, "It was somewhat of a surprise. I never expected that."
"He was just saying that he had to do what's best for his family."
With official visits to Auburn and Purdue already under his belt, Lane plans to check out other schools.
"I'm going to look around still. I'm going to talk to the coaches. I'm still committed, but I'm going to look around still," he said.
Along with his official visit to Clemson, which is scheduled for Jan. 14-16, he'll visit Miami and Florida State.
