Jeff Scott
visited the Chattahooche High School (John’s Creek, Ga.) senior kicker last week. Swinney called with the offer shortly after the visit.
The offer joins a preferred walk-on deal at Utah. Auburn has offered as a greyshirt. Georgia Tech and Maryland both have offered full scholarships.
He’s taken an official to Maryland and has made an unofficial to Utah.
Lakip will visit Auburn this weekend, Georgia Tech the following and Clemson during the last weekend in January.
“I just want to meet the coaches, the people at the school,” he told
CUTigers
.
In May, Lakip visited Clemson, but that was as a recruit for the soccer team.
“I thought the campus was real nice. They showed me the soccer weight room, which was the old football weight room,” he said. “That was nicer than some football weight rooms now, at schools that I’ve been to. I’m pretty excited to see the football facilities.”
Lakip made 14 of 20 field goals during his senior season at Chattahooche. He was 2 of 3 from 50 yards or more, including a long of 51 and 63 of 64 extra-point attempts. On kickoffs, 80 percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks.
“I’m probably going to decide after I visit Clemson, because I want to make sure that I still have my options,” Lakip said.
He kicked field goals and extra points off the ground during the regular season, but used a block during the playoffs.
