QB Matt Davis Profile
Klein Forest High School (Houston, Tex.) junior quarterback Matt Davis has offers from schools like Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Nebraska and TCU, just to name a few.
Clemson offered in late February.
"I was quite surprised," Davis told CUTigers. "I was getting mail from them. I get letters. I didn't know, because they're all the way on the east coast. I thought it was weird that I was getting letters from Clemson. I saw they started more, so I thought they had a little interest. Then, they called my coach, he called me and told me they offered me."
The Scout.com four-star, who's ranked among the top-seven quarterbacks in the class of 2012, was surprised to get the Tigers' offer.
"I was like, ‘Wow.' I called coach Morris and talked to him a little bit, just extending the line of communication," Davis said. "I'm very thankful and surprised."
He's still learning about Clemson. One thing he does know, the Tigers cleaned up in the 2011 haul.
"I look at other people and what they're doing. That's one school I always saw popping up, Clemson, Clemson, Clemson. They signed Tony Steward and Mike Bellamy," Davis said. "They had a great recruiting class. History-wise, I don't know too much. I know that they already had a good offense.
"They're going to have an even better offense with the recruits, and especially with the coach they brought in, coach Morris. I know big things are going to happen in Clemson soon."
A trip to Clemson hasn't been officially set, but he's hoping to visit later this month.
Davis tore his ACL in the first game of his junior season. As a sophomore, he rushed for over 1,400 yards and scored 22 touchdowns. He also threw for 1,400 yards with 14 touchdowns.
Before his season ended, he had 159 yards and two touchdowns in the first game against Cinco Ranch.
Currently, Davis claims no leaders and has 22 total scholarship offers.
