Scout.com talked with 2012 prospect Brent Wilkerson from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville…
Clemson's standing out
Like his teammate, Michael Moore, DeMatha Catholic High School junior defensive end Brent Wilkerson recently picked up a Clemson offer.
"I got it two weeks ago when I was talking to coach [Marion] Hobby, the defensive line coach. I've been talking to him for a while," Wilkerson told CUTigers.com. "He just offered me when I called him two weeks ago. He wanted me and Mike Moore to be the bookends for them. They're losing a lot of defensive ends, and I'd have a chance to come in and play early."
Wilkerson won't be able to attend the Orange and White spring game with Moore because he'll be taking the ACT.
He'll be in Penn State this weekend, Virginia the first weekend of April and in Michigan two weeks later.
Wilkerson plans to visit Clemson sometime in May, but no date has been set.
"I really don't know too much about them," he said. "I know they had Da'Quan Bowers. That's all I really know about them. They have a lot of good defensive linemen. I heard it's a good school and a nice campus and all that. I'm looking forward to getting down there and see what they have to offer."
For now, he publicly claims no leaders.
"I don't have any favorites, but I have schools that are sticking out the most, like they‘ve been showing me the most interest," Wilkerson said.
He named Clemson, North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, Rutgers, Virginia, Penn State and Vanderbilt as the schools.
"I'm trying to narrow it down in the summertime and make a decision before the season," he said. "If that doesn't happen, I'm just going to list my five and take my officials after the season."
