Tennessee QB checks out Clemson
QB Patton Robinette Profile Maryville High School junior quarterback Patton Robinette has a pair of teammates that will play at Clemson. Punter Greg Colquitt is set to join the Tigers as a preferred walk-on in 2011. Center Jay Guillermo was the first commitment for the 2012 class. Though Robinette is still waiting on his offer, he remains interested. "I really enjoyed getting to visit for the game," he told CUTigers.com. "I talked to some of the coaches, which was nice. I got to take a little tour of the campus, which I enjoyed. Then, I got to see a pretty good game." What stood out the most on Saturday? "The level of competition they've got going on there…they've got some great athletes on both sides of the ball. That was nice to see that on both sides of the ball," he said. While visiting, Robinette briefly spoke with offensive coordinator Chad Morris and defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks. Both will head to Maryville during the spring evaluation period for a live look at the nation's No. 24 rated quarterback, according to Scout.com. "They said the next step would be for them to come watch me throw this spring, which I think they're going to do here in about two weeks," Robinette said. "So I'm just waiting on that." Already this spring, he's visited Vanderbilt, Georgia, Florida State, Northwestern and Wake Forest. Vanderbilt, Memphis and Arkansas State have offered. Of those schools that have not offered, Robinette said Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois and Virginia are recruiting him the hardest. "I really don't have an order [of favorites]. It's still very early. I have to see all the places that I want to, or find out what I want to about all these places," he said. "Right now, I'm just keeping everyone on an even playing field." As a junior, Robinette completed 104 of 152 passes from 1,875 yards and 23 touchdowns. He rushed 118 times for 970 yards and 11 touchdowns.
