Peake focused, ready to report
The four-star wide receiver out of Dorman High School finished his prep career with 160 catches for 2,764 yards and 28 touchdowns and 95 rushes for 1,021 yards and eight touchdowns.
"I'm very excited about coming in and having a chance to play. I hope everything works out great," Peake told CUTigers.com recently.
The Scout.com No. 9 wide receiver in the 2011 class is expected to do just that. And he's well aware of what's in front of him.
But that's not to say that Peake has penciled himself into the starting lineup for the season opener against Troy.
"I've got a great opportunity," Peake said. "I've got to come in, work hard and execute. If I do, everything will work out fine."
Only one full week stands between Peake and the start of his Clemson career. Freshmen are scheduled to report on July 3.
"I've been doing a lot of running and a lot of route running. I'm trying to make sure my body will be prepared for all of that," he said.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver wants to be more consistent, too.
"I want to catch every ball. That's what I have to improve on," Peake said.
He's confident the 2011 Tigers could have a successful season.
"I think we're going to do real well. We're a very talented team," Peake said. "We've got a lot of young guys coming in. if everybody does their job and plays their role I think we'll be good."
Peake, who will wear No. 19, will room with fellow wide receivers Martavis Bryant and Sammy Watkins, plus running back Mike Bellamy.
