Tigers land McCullough
TE Jay Jay McCullough Profile McCullough, a senior at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, visited Clemson with his mother on Thursday. "My mom and I arrived to Clemson around 12:30. I went over to coach Swinney's office and talked to him. I just told him I was committing to him," McCullough told CUTigers.com. Ranked as the No. 49 tight end in the country by Scout.com, McCullough is the 15th verbal commitment to Clemson in the 2012 recruiting class. "I felt like they were a family," he said. "I felt real comfortable at Clemson. I feel like I fit the offense 100 percent. I just feel the most comfortable. I like the people around me. I feel like it would be best for me." The 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect is being recruited to play the 3-back position in Clemson's offense, which is under the direction of first-year coordinator Chad Morris. "It's like what I run now in high school. I run the ball and I receive the ball. They motion me around the backfield. I'm used to it," McCullough said. "I know I can do it. It's fast. It's just a really fast offense. The defense can hardly keep up with it." As a junior, he rushed 80 times for almost 600 yards and hauled in 30 catches for close to 300 yards. McCullough also scored 15 total touchdowns. He selected Clemson over offers from South Carolina, N.C. State and Miami, among others. "I thought I was going to do it for a month now -- I'd say a month. I'd kind made up my mind that I wanted to go there," McCullough said.
