Clemson in mix for 4-star big man

Clemson is one of several schools that's under consideration for this four-star center from the Atlanta-area.

Wheeler High School [Marietta, Ga.] center Charles Mitchell holds offers from several schools across the country.

Along with Clemson, Mitchell has received offers from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Southern California and Maryland.

"There are a lot of schools that I really like. That's why I want to go on some visits. I want to take my time with coaches and get to know the staff," Mitchell recently told CUTigers.com.

It's possible that he could be making an official visit to Tigertown at some point this fall.

The No. 21 center in the class of 2012 keeps in touch with Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and associate head coach Rick Ray.

"It's a high interest, at the end of the day. It's close to home. It's a three or four hour drive. I'm in ACC country. I probably would have a good interest, at the end of the day," Mitchell said.

Ideally, he said, a decision will be reached by October.

"I want to fit into a program, basketball-wise. With the players, the way I play and me developing as a player, the way I play," Mitchell said. "Second, is the relationship I build with the college coaches and how well communicate and everything.

"After that, the school, the area, academics, all of that."

As a junior at Wheeler, Mitchell averaged 21 points and nine rebounds.
