The freshman from Nocatee, Fla. finished with three carries for 81 yards and three kick returns for 58 yards. "His first play in the game, he really messed up," said head coach Dabo Swinney. "But, we went back to him later. Seventy-five yards later, it was a touchdown." Bellamy's touchdown run was the longest run for a player on his first carry. Craig Crawford held the previous record, a 72-yard rush against Wake Forest on Halloween in 1981. "It was a great play, a great call by the coaches. The line did what they had to do, to make the crease," Bellamy said. "I just did what I did. I looked at it and just ran." The No. 7 running back in the class of 2011, according to Scout.com, spoke his performance like a seasoned veteran. "We've got to thank our teammates. Without those guys, it wouldn't happen," he said. "Every person on the field counts and every play counts. "Just like we made great runs, those guys made great blocks. Just like y'all give us praise, we've got to give those guys praise, too." Bellamy had been chomping at the bit to make an impact during his first game. "I was just ready to go out there on the field, to just see how it is and enjoy the team," he said. "That's what it's all about -- the team -- at the end of the day." At the end of the day, the story following Saturday's 43-19 win over Troy, was the freshmen. Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Adam Humphries and Bellamy combined for 298 all-purpose yards. Bellamy's excited to be part of the play-making group signees from the class of 2011. "It feels good," he said. "At the same time, those guys are going to be here with me for four years. "That's always a great feeling." The 70,000-plus fans wearing orange at Death Valley on Saturday agree.
