Marty Williams commits to Clemson

CUTigers.com has confirmed that Marty Williams intends to become the next member of Clemson's 2012 signing class.

Marty Williams Profile

Williams, the nation's No. 27 safety according to Scout.com, is currently rated three stars but is under consideration to be bumped up to a fourth.

A long-time Clemson lean, Williams is being recruited to Tigertown by defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison.

"This is what I tell everybody, he's a better kid than he is a player," Fox Creek head coach Russ Schneider told CUTigers.com earlier this summer. "He's a yes sir, no sir. He does everything we ask him to do. He loves football. He loves the school. He loves his teammates.

"As a matter of fact, when people come to interview him he gets upset. ‘Let them interview somebody else.' A lot of times they want to talk to Marty. He wants his teammates to get interviewed. He's very unselfish."

Williams plays quarterback at Fox Creek, in addition to his duties on the defensive side of the ball. As a junior, he rushed 1,980 yards and 23 touchdowns and threw for 650 yards. He added 48 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles on defense.

He is projected to play safety as a Tiger.
