Blake Bone received the Gamecocks' offer on Monday.

"It was basically a big relief off of my shoulders," Bone said in an interview with CUTigers. "I just thank the Lord, because he's the one that blessed me with this athletic talent.

"Now that I've got this first one out of the way, I can focus on getting better in football."

The offer from South Carolina came as a bit of a surprise.

"[Carolina] has been contacting me, like Clemson. But I actually thought Clemson or Kentucky, somebody like that, would be the first [offer]," he said. "That was because they'd contacted me more. I guess Carolina just liked what they had seen."

From South Carolina, Bone has been in touch with wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier, Jr. and offensive line coach Shawn Elliott.

Clemson wide receivers coach Jeff Scott serves as Bone's primary recruiter for the Tigers.

"We have a pretty good relationship. We like each other. He was at camp when I was there last summer. We're cool," Bone said.

Though he's yet to make any visits this spring, Bone was invited to Columbia for the South Carolina spring game. A one-day return trip to Clemson could be made for this summer's Dabo Swinney Football Camp, the only camp Bone went to last summer.

"I'm going to try to go to a lot of camps, actually," Bone said.

In 13 games as a sophomore, he caught 62 passes for 1,009 yards and nine touchdowns.
