Quinton Stephens’
recruitment to Clemson are head coach
Brad Brownell
and associate head coach
Rick Ray
.
Stephens, the No. 20 small forward in the class of 2013, visited Clemson last fall for the North Carolina football game.
“I haven’t been there since. I want to get up there pretty soon,” he said in a recent interview with
CUTigers
.
The Marist School [Atlanta] junior added, “It’s a good college town. I really enjoyed it. There’s a lot of orange, a lot of purple. I liked it. It’s a good atmosphere, really lively.”
Stephens spoke over the phone with Ray just before Marist fell to Miller Grove in the state playoffs.
“We’d won the sweet 16 against Rockdale and we were going to the elite 8 against Miller Grove. We were talking about that and just life in general, really,” Stephens said.
He’s in touch with the Clemson staff pretty regularly.
“My phone had been broken for a bit. I usually call coach Brownell every two weeks, I would say,” Stephens said.
Georgia Tech, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn and UAB have also offered.
“The ones that really stand-out to me right now are Georgia Tech, Clemson, Tennessee and Auburn,” he said.
In a recent interview with
Scout.com
, he named the Yellow Jackets as his leader.
“I’d say Tech is at the top because I know the most about them” Stephens said. “I can meet with them whenever.”
As a junior at Marist, he averaged 19 points, five rebounds, four blocks and two assists a game.
