WR visits Clemson, leaves with offer

This 2013 wide receiver, who was in Clemson on Monday afternoon to watch the Tigers' scrimmage, picked up an offer before leaving.

WR Johnathan Howard Profile

Wilcox County High School junior wide receiver Johnathan Howard was joined on the visit by two teammates, 2013 cornerback Makail Grace and 2014 defensive lineman Johnny Dwight. Head coach Mark Ledford accompanied the prospects.

"I was in coach [Dabo] Swinney's office. He pretty much just came out and told me that I would seem like a good fit in his offense," Howard told CUTigers on Monday afternoon. "He says he knows great talent when he sees it. He said he decided I would be a perfect fit for this offense. He said he wasn't going to waste any time. He was just going to ahead and offer."

The offer was one that he'd been waiting to receive.

"That means a lot. That was my main, No. 1 school before I got the offer. To finally get it, it was great," he said.

N.C. State and Louisville have already offered, so have North Alabama and Southern Miss.

North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia and UCF are expressing interest.

"I want to commit, maybe this summer. Maybe on signing day of my senior year," he said.
