It's just that Bryant, the No. 8 outside linebacker in the class of 2013, really wanted it.
"I'm the happiest guy. I'm the happiest athlete in the world right now," he told CUTigers after the Charlotte Nike Football Training camp. "It's the best moment of my life."
Bryant, who checks in at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, will have an opportunity to compete with some of the best prospects in the country during the weeklong event.
"I worked so hard to get this invitation. To watch it last year and see those kids, I felt like I could have been there," he said. "I just put in more hard work, just worked hard, stayed in the weight room and worked on my craft. I got the invite."
The four-star prospect from nearby Vance High School arrived to the Nike Camp with high expectations, but knew he had to perform and earn the invite.
"I really dreamed of getting one, but I didn't know I was getting the MVP or The Opening invite. I just came out here to work and get coached," Bryant said.
Over 20 schools have already offered. Five currently stand out.
"South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, Virginia, and Georgia are my top five," Bryant said.
