Fla. DL impressed by Clemson
Ivie, a rising senior from Pasco High School in Dade City, enjoyed his first trip to Clemson.
He and the rest of the group with Unsigned Preps arrived to town on Tuesday and participated in the camp on Wednesday.
"It's a very beautiful school, beautiful campus. The facilities, I see their doing a lot of work with their facilities. They've got some star players," he told CUTigers after leaving campus on Wednesday night.
"I'm in the town right now. It's a small town. You can tell everybody gets together and watches the games."
The No. 37 defensive tackle in the class of 2013 worked out with defensive ends coach Marion Hobby.
"[Hobby] told me he likes me and wants to offer me. He said they were going to call in the morning, which I hope is an offer, because I like the school," Ivie said.
He enjoyed working with Hobby.
"I liked him a lot as a coach. He's a nice guy, definitely helped with technique. I see myself, as a player, playing for him. That's the kind of coach I want to be coached by," Ivie said.
Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, Purdue, South Florida, Tennessee and West Virginia are among the 22 schools that have offered.
There is no leader.
"I've some ideas, but I'm going to wait a little bit. I think, by sometime this summer, I'm going to narrow it down," Ivie said.
Several factors will be considered as he works toward that.
"Some of the SEC schools, schools like Clemson that are close to home and not all the way on the other side of the country, Florida schools -- if not that, schools that I'm very interested in," he said. "At the end of the day, it's somewhere I want to be comfortable the next four years, and know that I can develop into a good player at a school."
As a junior, Ivie had 50 tackles and nine sacks.
