The five-star defensive end committed to Clemson on Thursday afternoon while visiting from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga.
Sources confirmed the news to CUTigers.com shortly after the decision was made.
He becomes the third player from Grayson High School to pledge for the Tigers in the 2013 recruiting class.
, a four-star running back, and
, a three-star cornerback, have also given commitments to the Clemson coaching staff.

Nkemdiche, a defensive end, is the No. 1 prospect in the country according to
Clemson also signed the No. 1 defensive end in the nation in 2008 when
inked with the Tigers. He later went on to be named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was a third-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Tigers have also produced some of the top defensive linemen in the game in recent years, including the late
, the No. 4 overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft;
, a third-round pick of the Washington Redskins in 2011; and
, another former five-star defensive end who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010.
(second round - Jacksonville) and tackle
(third round - Cincinnati) were also high-round draft picks this past April.
Robert Nkemdiche's verbal commitment gives the Tigers another anchor on the defensive line for seasons to come.
During his junior season, Nkemdiche recorded 78 tackles, 36 tackles for a loss and 18 sacks on defense while also running for 528 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns on offense.
"He has a running back skill set in a 6'4/260 pounds frame," Scout.com's Director of Scouting Scott Kennedy says. "Nkemdiche has uncommon strength and power to go along with feet quick enough that he could be a viable running back prospect.
"He's strong enough to manhandle an offensive tackle and quick enough to run by him and chase down a ball carrier from behind. He has good flexibility, allowing him to get low and change direction like he was on rails. Physically impressive with dominating production."
Nkemdiche chose the Tigers over offers from virtually every other school in the south, including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn and others.
He also had offers from as far away as Texas and Oregon.
With his verbal commitment in place, Nkemdiche moves Clemson's 2013 recruiting class up to 18th in Scout.com's updated national rankings.
The five-star commitment has also now visited Clemson three times this year -- with the third time, apparently, being the charm.
