Three-star small forward A.J. Davis took his official visit to Clemson on Saturday. What stood out?…
Clemson offers Georgia SF
After a strong showing at the Nike Skills University in Washington D.C. by Buford High School's A.J. Davis, Clemson stepped forward with an offer.
"My high school coach called me first," Davis told CUTigers on Monday afternoon. "He just told me that he talked to the coaches. We had gone down there for team camp in June, so they talked to my coaches. They hadn't seen me in a while. I hadn't played in front of Clemson in a while."
His first impression of the Clemson campus was a good one.
"It was great. It's a big gym. It's such a great college town and environment. From the gym and facilities, you see the paw everywhere," he said. "You can definitely tell it's a great college town to be in, which is one thing I'm looking for from a school.
"It was great, from what I could tell…I'm definitely going to go visit the school [again]."
The Clemson offer was No. 6 for Davis, who is listed by Scout.com as a three-star prospect. Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, College of Charleston and UTEP had already offered.
Several others are showing interest, including Georgia Tech, Florida, Georgetown and Cincinnati.
Davis has been in touch with all of the Clemson coaches, but Earl Grant has been in the most contact.
As a junior at Buford, Davis averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game. Before the start of his junior year, Davis transferred from Greater Atlanta Christian.
