Eagles Landing Christian Academy's [McDonough, Ga.] Andre wWilliams has spoken with Clemson commitments Robert Nkemdiche and Elijah Daniel to get a gauge on why they chose to commit to the Tigers.
“I met [Nkemdiche] last year. I was asking him questions about the process, because I was kind of new to this stuff,” Williams said in a recent interview with
CUTigers
. “I was kind of surprised. That was a great catch for Clemson.
“I talked to them recently -- both Robert and Daniel -- about why they picked Clemson, what are their plans. It really gave me a great insight on the school and the recruiting process for Clemson.”
Clemson’s 2013 defensive end class impresses the 2014 prospect. He said the presence of the two 2013 studs won’t keep him from taking a serious look joining the Tigers.
Williams visited Clemson in June for the
Dabo Swinney Football Camp
. There, he worked with defensive ends coach
Marion Hobby
.
He also attended camps at Florida State, Florida and Georgia. He broke down each of those three trips.
Florida State
: It was nice. I just worked on my technique and out-working everybody out there.
Florida
: It was a great experience. I received top coaching. There were the top recruits from Florida. I got to see how I compared to them. It was a good experience.
Georgia
: They had their Dawg Night. It was good. There were some good recruits there. I feel like I held my own.
Several schools could host Williams for visits this fall.
“I’m definitely taking a trip to Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame with my teammate, Isaac Rochell, Texas -- just as many schools as I can,” he said.
None of the visits have been set. Those listed are destinations he places he hopes to see for games later this year.
A commitment could be made towards the end of his junior year or near the beginning of his senior year.
Who stands out?
“Schools are sending me letters, like get to the school…a bunch like Alabama, Clemson. Coach Hobby keeps on me a lot. We a personal relationship, so that’s cool,” Williams said. “Florida, LSU, Vandy, Texas. But Clemson, coach Hobby is a great guy.
“He’s starting to become like a mentor, more than a coach. He asks me like, are you going out Friday night? What are you doing? That’s really cool of a college coach to do that.”
