Hoops: Miami 76, LaSalle 59

The University of Miami Men's Basketball team started 2013 on a positive note, defeating La Salle by the score of 76-59.

The Hurricanes won just one of three games at the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii over Christmas break. They returned to action earlier tonight against La Salle and came away with the win.

Freshman Shane Larkin scored 18 points, his second highest point-total of the season, to lead the Hurricanes in victory. Trey McKinney turned in 14 points, his second best performance of the season. Durand Scott also added 18 for the Canes.

Kenny Kadji added 11 boards, to go along with 14 points, for the Canes.

The starters for Miami in the game were Larkin, Scott, Jones, Kadji, and Gamble as the team continues playing without star Reggie Johnson.

The Hurricanes are now 9-3 on the season, and will travel to take on Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday. It will be the team's first conference game of the season.
