Lawson was a force all week in the Under Armour practices and game. He talked about his experience. "I expected it to be a little harder but it wasn't," Lawson said. "It couldn't touch one of my practices at my high school. It was a pretty easy week. At my high school we have four Division-I offensive linemen. Those guys are like, oh you haven't lost a rep. You don't lose a rep. I lose reps to those guys. The talent level here is nowhere close to what I have at my high school. It was just real easy. I didn't feel anybody could block me all week." Lawson had an impressive week of practice. "I had about 12 sacks in team drills. Nobody ran at me. I blow that up inside. I made like every tackle that someone came inside. I don't know what I need to improve on. I'm going to get with my coach at my school in the offseason and just go over all of that before I get to college." There were other positions that were more advanced at the Under Armour event. "I'd say the running backs. You get a lot more help in the secondary because we always have our quarterback breaking out in the pocket. There's none of that out here. It's almost like a comfort zone for me. That really helps just having all those guys behind you on the field." The No. 7 nationally-ranked defensive end has stayed away from the media throughout his recruitment. Why? "It causes speculation (when you talk to the media). It causes people to ask more questions. I just like to leave it at that. It gives you cushion and the reporters don't want to call you anymore if I'm not going to talk to you. Ole Miss is a school that Lawson is considering. "Their whole staff just does a great job at just getting on one player. I'm surprised that they have the time for anybody like that. All the way from coach Freeze down to coach (Chris) Kiffin to coach (Matt) Luke. They just come after you so hard. They're just great people. They do a great job of always coming to my school and house and staying in contact with me. They want to get to know everybody in your family. They're just great recruiters." Lawson visited Ole Miss unofficially and is looking forward to getting back over there for an official visit. "I really liked the campus when I went over there and the possibility of the class they have coming in with guys like Robert Nkemdiche. I'm going over there on my official. I just want to see the educational side and see some more of the campus." Clemson is also in line to get an official visit from Lawson. "Clemson has a great coaching staff. Like Ole Miss, I've built a really good relationship with those coaches. It's a lot like Auburn over there." North Carolina was also mentioned as one of the schools Lawson is keeping an eye on. "It's a great academic school and has great tradition, Carolina blue. They also have a great staff too." The top 100 national prospect wants to get to know the schools outside of Auburn a little better so he can get a better feel about his commitment to the Tigers. "I mean, yeah, because I pretty much know everything there is to know about the school itself (Auburn). My thing with Auburn will be the relationship I develop with their new staff and seeing the schemes and how I'd fit in there." Lawson has begun to develop a relationship with the new Auburn staff. "I've been talking to them. They're good coaches. I like the schemes they're going to run. Auburn is a great school and so are all of the other colleges. You never know." In the end what are going to be the most important factors? "I'm reevaluating everything and just the best overall fit, like what I want." Carl Lawson Profile
