What The Latest With WR Rontavius McClure?

SCPrepNation.com caught up with 2013 Northwestern High wide receiver Rontavius McClure to talk the very latest regarding his recruitment and future. The 6'6 215 pound prospect is one of the southeast's most underrated prospects and he's landed some offers but what are his plans moving forward?

Rontavius McClure Profile

This past season 2013 wide receiver Rontavius McClure ran roughshod over the competition for the Northwestern Trojans. The 6'6 215 pound prospect put together a season to remember as one of his biggest accomplishments was being named to this year's Shrine Bowl team. Having landed some offers along the way McClure is a prospect that oozes with upside and potential. SCPrepNation.com has the very latest as we spoke with McClure over the weekend.

"The only other offers I've gotten lately are from Newberry and FMU," McClure told us.

Prior to those offers McClure picked up offers from Appalachian State and Marshall.

We asked McClure what his intentions were moving forward. His recruitment has reminded us somewhat of former Northwestern High wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. McClure has a lot of eyes on him but a handful of offers thus far. Could he take the route that Patterson took by going to a JUCO?

"I haven't really thought about JUCO but it's there for a possiblity."

After speaking with we encouraged McClure to reach out to Patterson to see if JUCO would be an ideal situation for him now that Patterson dominated the JUCO ranks and starred this past season at Tennessee and is now regarded as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the upcoming NFL draft.

McClure was given a 2-star rating by Scout.com but given his size, speed, and hands he will be a steal to whichever program lands his commitment. We see diamonds in the rough every recruiting cycle but McClure may be very much like we projected Cordarrelle Patterson to be one of the state's very best prospects. Patterson saw his journey take a unique path but he's seeing his dreams come to fruition now after much dedication and hard work. We'll keep you posted about McClure as we see the same kind of potential in this young man as well.
