2014 Intro: O'Shane Ximines

O'Shane Ximines had flown underneath the radar until recently. Now, the Hertford (N.C.) defensive end is starting to generate quite a buzz on the recruiting trail.

O'Shane Ximines was flying under-the-radar in recruiting circles, but that all changed on Monday when he received his first scholarship offer from East Carolina, while on an unofficial visit to the Pirates' campus.

"I'm excited," said the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Ximines. "When I went on the visit yesterday, I was hoping for the offer. I'm glad they gave it to me."

"I love ECU's facilities and what they do for their program. They made me feel like I was already part of their family."

Ximines received the offer from Pirates' head coach Ruffin McNeill.

"I was in shock," he said. "I felt like I was good enough, but I didn't think the offer would come so soon. It just makes me want to work harder and try to get more (offers)."

Besides East Carolina, Ximines is also attracting interest from Duke, Missouri, North Carolina,Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

The Hertford County standout will take a trip to North Carolina this weekend and Wake Forest on March 23.

He will likely go to spring practices at Duke, East Carolina, and North Carolina.

For now, Ximines main goal is becoming a better player.

"I'm going to be working on speed," he said. "I'm running track – the 400 (meter dash). I'm also going to be working on my flexibility and lifting weights."

Ximines finished his junior season with 65 tackles and 14 sacks.
