Tigers set to host the Yellow Jackets

A win on Tuesday would be Clemson's 500th win in Littlejohn Coliseum. The building, which opened on Nov. 30, 1968, was christened with a 76-72 win over Georgia Tech.

WHAT: Clemson vs. Georgia Tech
WHERE: Clemson, S.C. - Littlejohn Coliseum
WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 4 (8:05 p.m.)
TV: ACC Network (Tim Brando, Dave Odom)

After going 2-6 in January, Brian Gregory will bring his third Georgia Tech team up to Clemson after their 79-70 win at Wake Forest on Saturday. Brad Brownell's Tigers [14-6, 5-3 ACC] will host the Yellow Jackets [12-10, 3-6 ACC] for an 8:05 tipoff on the ACC Network.

"I think they're playing better," Brownell said. "First of all, they have three fifth-year seniors, which is great. That's one of the reasons why I think they've played well on the road. They've got three fifth-year guys that have been through it."

Point guard Trae Golden, who spent his first four seasons of college ball at Tennessee, leads the team with 14 points and 3.7 assists per game.

Center Daniel Miller leads the team with 50 blocked shots and 25 steals. He's second in rebounding [8.0] and third in scoring [11.0].

Power forward Kammeon Hosley is averaging 7.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. "Those guys aren't going to see anything they haven't seen before," Brownell said. "They're not going to experience anything they haven't experienced before. They're fine, in terms of being rattled or seeing new things. They're going to be prepared. They're going to know what they're doing. Physically, they're mature."

Miller checks in at 6-11, 275 while Holsey is 6-8, 234.

"They're big and strong inside. That's a concern for us," Brownell said. "We're not as big as a lot of teams, so rebounding, defending the post -- all the little things that kind of came into the season a little concerned about, against this team, those are real concerns."

Brownell thinks Clemson and Georgia Tech have some similarities on the defensive end of the floor.

"I think their half-court defense is pretty good, better than their numbers show," he said. "I think there are times they're like us, sometimes, they turn the ball over, get beat in transition because of it. But, I think, in the half-court, they're pretty sound."

Also averaging double-digits in scoring for the Yellow Jackets is forward Marcus Georges-Hunt, who's averaging 12.5 per game. Another front-court player, Robert Carter Jr., is averaging 10.3, but he's been out for several weeks with a torn meniscus.

"One of the biggest things is I think they're playing better," Brownell said. "They're on a little bit of an uptick here, and have got some confidence, really have played well on the road."
