Kavell Conner Commits to Clemson

The Clemson Tigers picked up another big time commitment last week when Kavell Conner gave his pledge to wear orange in 2005. Conner's primary recruiter to Tiger Town was defensive coordinator John Lovett.

"He committed to Clemson last week," said Kavell's mom in an interview with CUTigers.com today. "He's been getting letters from schools from all across the country for a long time, so we are glad he's made a decision and we support him in that."

Mrs. Conner also says that Kavell really enjoyed his trip he made to Clemson earlier this summer.

"He really liked it down there, and we are excited for him."

Conner's head coach, Tom Hall, told TheInsiders.com that Clemson is getting a very strong athlete next year.

"He's a super, super athlete and an awesome kid," said coach Tom Hall. "He's a good student.

"He's got a lot of potential and will get looks from everywhere. Granted he might end up being a tailback in college, but I see him probably like a Vegas Robinson. He's going to be definite a blue-chip."

CUTigers.com last contacted Conner in late August, when he said, "I didn't get to camp at Clemson but I did take a visit. It was nice down there. The coaching staff is real nice and the campus is nice."

At that time, he was favoring Clemson and Oklahoma.

Clemson was the first school to offer Conner in writing, but the Sooners did move in with a verbal offer.

"Clemson is talking to be about running back, safety or linebacker," said Conner. "It doesn't really matter to me as long as I get to play."

Conner becomes the 11th verbal commitment for the Tigers in the 2005 class. We will continue to keep you updated on this new commitment to Clemson, right up through signing day.
