Belton-Honea Path
Belton, South Carolina
* Barry Humphries checked in this morning, fresh off a state championship at Belton Honea-Path at 6-3, 291 pounds. His fastest 40-time is 4.92 seconds.
* Humphries' verbal commitment to Clemson remains firm. His only official visit will be with the Tigers on January 14. "It was always Clemson," Humphries told CUTigers.com this morning. "I'm just looking forward to getting up there and helping out."
* Humphries played as a guard in the Bears' offense this past year, but that won't be his position in college. "They want me as a center right now," Humphries said. "They've talked about me on the defensive line also. Really, I'll end up where they need me the most, but they have talked to me possibly about both."
* The senior lineman is one of the nicest student athletes you'll ever meet. Entering the Shriners' Hospital this morning, he made it a point to meet and talk to every single person lined up along the entrance of the building.
* Like many members of the South Carolina team, Humprhies said that he'd like to beat his North Carolina counterparts this week. "We want to win," said Humphries. "They've beaten our team the last few years, so we want to make sure that doesn't happen again."
