Quick Bio
Dorell Scott was a Shrine Bowl defensive lineman from Ridge View High that was rated as the 32nd-best defensive tackle in the nation by He was a three-year starter and was named first-team All-State by the AP as a senior.
The Scoop
Scott was one of the early surprises of fall practice last year. Head coach Tommy Bowden even hinted early on that he may elect to play him as a true freshman, but it never materialized. Now entering his second year at Clemson, Scott figures to see action for the first time in his collegiate career as a defensive tackle later this fall.

Key Points
  • Scott finished his high school career at Ridge View with 242 tackles, seven sacks, 35 quarterback pressures, 31 tackles for loss, four caused fumbles, six fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

  • Scott was also voted the MVP of his team in each of his last three years in high school. He was recruited to Clemson by offensive line coach Brad Scott, and chose the Tigers over South Carolina.

  • Scott is currently the third team nose tackle on depth chart, behind starter Cory Groover and Donnell Clark.

Scott has good size, but he's actually lost a few pounds since arriving on campus last summer. With Cory Groover and Donnell Clark likely getting a bulk of the snaps this fall, he is probably still a year away from seeing significant snaps. Nevertheless, it would not be out of the question to see him log 100+ snaps this fall in a reserve role.
