Clemson's baseball coach says he won't be leaving for Texas A&M or Oklahoma.

It now seems the man that led the Clemson baseball team to four College World Series appearances will remain with the Tigers.

Jack Leggett, who just completed his 12th season at Clemson and who guided the Tigers to within one game of reaching the CWS this season, is poised to accept a new contract when athletics director Terry Don Phillips returns from vacation.

Leggett first announced that he was staying at Clemson on Sports Talk with Dan Scott on 104.9, WCCP-FM.

Prior to his new verbal agreement with Clemson, Leggett, 51, reportedly had several discussions with Oklahoma officials about that school’s vacancy. He was considered one of the top candidates for the position.

He also had talks with officials at Texas A&M about the opening there, but he wasn’t on the short list of top candidates.

Leggett, who as averaged 46 wins a season, has two years remaining on his current contract, which pays him an annual base salary of $139,000 and another $10,000 in an annuity. He also can get as much as $104,288 in incentives. He also receives an undisclosed amount from camps and endorsement deals.

Leggett’s new contract comes on the heels of South Carolina coach Ray Tanner receiving a hefty bump in pay. Tanner was a top candidate for the Texas A&M job, which is reportedly offering a package in the neighborhood of $500,000.

However, officials at South Carolina quickly gave Tanner a $50,000 raise and two-year contract extension through the 2012 season. His base salary of $160,000 did not change but he got $25,000 more in supplemental compensation and an additional $25,000 in media compensation. Tanner is now guaranteed to make at least $345,000 each year and incentives could bring his salary up to $490,000.
