Tigers Checking Senior Film of GA LB

Will this star linebacker out of Douglass High follow his former teammate James Davis to Clemson? CUTigers.com has the latest on the Georgia standout in this recruiting update.

Akeem Dent is just waiting.

Waiting for more scholarship offers to pour in.

According to the Georgia linebacker, the Clemson coaching staff will soon be evaluating his senior film, and it may be soon thereafter that a formal scholarship offer is extended.

"Coach Burns is telling me as soon as he gets to review tape of a couple of my games that they may offer," said Dent, who already has one offer from Purdue, in a recent interview with CUTigers.com. "My coach sent them some film not that long ago."

And how is Dent's senior year going so far?

"Everything is going real good right now for me," he said. "We are 3-0 right now. I have 46 tackles, two forced fumbles, and one interception so far. I have a lot of tackles for loss, but I'm not sure how many."

In terms of recruiting, when asked if he has any current leaders, Dent responded, "My number one team is Clemson. Alabama is probably number two."

The 6-3, 210 pound took an unofficial visit to Clemson earlier this fall. "I went up to Clemson for the Texas A&M game. I really enjoyed myself. I really liked the whole atmosphere," Dent said.

The timing of Dent's commitment will depend on his offer list. "I want to wait and see who offers. I'm not going to wait too long. I want to wait for two or three more offers," he said.

So would Dent commit to the Tigers on the spot, if offered? "I'm not sure," he said. "I'd have to see. It's hard to say right now."

And what will Dent be looking for at the next level.

"The first thing I will look at is distance. I don't want to go too far from home. Also, I want to check out the depth chart and see where I stand. Then I will look to see if they have my major. I want to major in Business Management or Engineering," he said.

Dent also said he'd like to travel to see the Crimson Tide at some point during the next few weeks. "I don't have any other visits planned right now but I do want to try to go down to see an Alabama game. I know what Clemson is like now. I would like to see Alabama," Dent said.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from Georgia, right up through signing day.
