Palmer Aims for 250
The 6-4, 235 pound prospect interrupted a meeting of the Clemson offensive coaching staff to give them some good news Monday afternoon. "I just called Coach West. I told him I wanted to come to Clemson. The offensive staff was in a meeting at the time so I got to speak with all of the coaches," Palmer told CUTigers.com.
"I also got to speak with Coach Bowden. He was very happy I committed."
Why did Palmer decide to go ahead and commit to the Tigers? "I just felt it was about the right time. I felt like it was the right decision and the right time," he responded.
"I like everything about Clemson. I like the coaching staff. I like the new offense. I feel like it is a great opportunity for me."
Friends and family were also very excited about Palmer's commitment to the Tigers. "Everyone is really excited. My friends are already expecting me to get them tickets," he said.
What is the Georgia standout looking forward to the most about getting up to Clemson? "I just want to get up there and help the team win a championship. That is my goal," he said.
The WestZone was also a big factor in Palmer's decision. "That was a big thing. They are going to have the No. 1 facilities hands down," he added.
Palmer also added this interesting tidbit about his future at Clemson. "You know right now I'm just going to work on my strength and my weight. I need to put on some weight. I am currently 235 pounds. They want me to come up to around 250. That will be a good excuse for me to eat a lot over the holidays," he said.
Palmer, who chose the Tigers over an offer from Virginia, will visit Clemson officially Jan. 13. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding tight end from Georgia, right up through signing day.
