Hunter Comments on Clemson Commitment
Byrnes LB Stanley Hunter is announcing to the world Tuesday what he told CUTigers.com a long time ago.
Yes indeed, he is verbally committed to Clemson.
"Clemson just felt right. It is like a big family and I want to be part of it," he said of his decision. "Me and coach Blackwell have a great relationship. He is real up front with me. Some of the other schools weren't that way. He let me know what I need to do and what I don't need to do. He is kind of like my dad. I feel real comfortable with coach Blackwell and the coaches at Clemson."
Aside from location, there were a number of other factors that ultimately led Hunter to his decision.
"I can really see myself playing in that defense. I will probably play outside linebacker, but I am willing to play anywhere they put me," he said.
And don't forget about his teammate, 5-star QB Willy Korn. With Korn verbally committed to Clemson since last July, the two now can look forward to playing together after their high school days have long since passed.
"We are the best of friends," Hunter said of Willy. "We have been playing together for three years going into four. Just being around Will is a blessing. Just being able to know him outside of football. He is a great friend. His dad and his whole family have treated me well."
And how firm is Hunter's commitment? "There is no chance I am going anywhere else," he responded. "I am going to be a Tiger. It will be close to my family and it's just the best decision I could have made.
"Clemson is just the right place for me."
Hunter, who is the eighth commitment for the Tigers in the 2007 recruiting class, is also the first linebacker to verbally commit to Clemson this year.
He was named to the all-region and all-area teams after recording 160 tackles, 38 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, and one interception while helping lead the Rebels to another state championship.
