The Clemson Tigers picked up their first public verbal commitment for the 2008 recruiting class Saturday when Blythewood wide receiver Marquan Jones gave his pledge to the Clemson coaching staff.

An assistant coach at Blythewood confirmed the news to CUTigers.com just moments after Jones had a meeting with the Clemson coaching staff.

Jones, a rising junior who was a regular at Clemson's home games last year, already had offers from both Clemson and South Carolina.

Jones also attended this year's Orange & White game in April and had been considered a hard Clemson lean for quite some time.

CUTigers.com will have more on this breaking story, later Saturday afternoon.
