CLEMSON - Will Proctor met with the media Thursday to preview the start of fall practice.
Listen to Audio
(4:49)
How does it feel to finally be ready to start practice as the starting quarterback at Clemson?
Proctor
: It feels good. I'm ready to get started. We've been working hard this summer. We had a real productive summer and I know a lot of the guys are anxious to get it going.
How confident are you about yourself, mentally, entering this season?
Proctor
: I'm extremely confident. I'm ready to get started like I said. I'm ready to get into those meetings and get on the practice field and get some fine tuning done.
You've been waiting for a long for this moment. Just talk about how that feels after having to wait for four years to finally get your chance.
Proctor
: The wait is over. A lot of guys wait. Coach Spence always says it's what you do while you wait. I feel like I've done the right things as far as learing from the guys ahead of me ... learning from Willie Simmons when I got here. Learning from Charlie Whitehurst and being able to take the things that I've learned and use that to my advantage.
Can you talk about summer workouts?
Proctor
: They've been real good. We've had a lot of high attendance. We threw two to three times a week and we feel like we've got a lot of work done. We did a lot of good stuff.
You've talked about this team having a different attitude. Can you expand on that?
Proctor
: Yeah I just feel like the expectations are so high, that at the same time, we've embraced those expectations. We are not complacent with where we are at. We want to get better. We had a lot of guys coming in the weight room and taking it upon themselves to get better. That's something we really haven't had before. A lot of guys are taking themselves accountable, especially in the weight room and on the practice field.
