LB Scotty Cooper Profile

Scotty Cooper, a 6-1, 195 pound linebacker/safety prospect out of Lake City started his senior season with a bang last Friday night.

"We lost 12-0," he said. "But our defense did a good job. We played almost perfect but we just need to correct a few things. "On defense I think I had a couple of sacks and almost 20 tackles. They were running away from me the whole night."

Cooper, who also plays quarterback for the Panthers, said this week he has his eyes set on stopping the North Myrtle Beach ground game.

"Yeah this week we play North Myrtle Beach at our place," he said. "They have that good running back. I will have to introduce myself."

Not surprisingly, Cooper talks with the Clemson coaching staff several times a week.

"I talk to Clemson every week at least two or three times a week," he said. I text with coach Bowden, coach Swinney and coach Blackwell. Then I call them."

Coach also Bowden spoke with the talented linebacker the night before his first game.

"I talked to coach Bowden the night before my game last week. I told him I was getting baptized on Sunday. We talked about that a good while," Cooper said.

The Palmetto standout will be in Death Valley with his future teammates on Saturday.

"I am coming up with coach Youngblood," Cooper added.
