Walker, Chancellor have Opportunity at FSU
Chancellor, a redshirt freshman, is a native of Miami and is expected to get the start in place of injured cornerback C.J. Gaddis. And despite the fact he's going to be playing in front of 80,000 people cheering against him, Chancellor couldn't be more ready – at least mentally. "Basically, it's time for people to start stepping up," he said. "If one goes down, somebody's got to step up in their place and make the plays. C.J.'s out, so me or Crezdon Butler have to step up and make the plays." Lending to Chancellor's confidence is his understanding of the defense as taught to him by defensive coordinator Vic Koenning, as well as having played against those on the other side of the ball. "I played against a lot of the Florida boys, so I'm not nervous, I'm ready," he said. "Coach Vic, he's a good coach. If you just listen to him, he puts you in good position to make plays. So as long as you know all your calls, you can go out there and make big plays. There's no anxious moments." Walker, a redshirt junior, is getting the start at Cat safety after starter Michael Hamlin went down last week with a broken foot against Boston College. While he didn't grow up in the state of Florida, the Oglethorpe, Ga., native was no less a Seminoles fan than Chancellor. "That was my dream school," Walker said. "All my life I liked Florida State. That was the school I really wanted to go to growing up, but by my 11th-grade year, I started getting offers from other schools." The fact that coach Bobby Bowden and the Seminoles didn't go after Walker and didn't offer him a scholarship is serving as motivation for revenge in Saturday's game. "That's the way I'm going to take it," he said. "It's a challenge to show what they missed out on."
