Clemson defensive back to be Person of the Week on ABC World News Tonight.

Clemson freshman defensive back Ray Ray McElrathbey will be featured as the Person of the Week on ABC World News Tonight on Friday evening, September 15.

The network program runs from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM Eastern time.

He will also be the subject of a feature on ESPN Gameday on Saturday morning some time between 10:00 AM and Noon.

McElrathbey has been in the national news of late. This summer he was granted temporary custody of his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr, who lives with him in an off campus apartment. His mother has struggled with a drug addition, so Ray Ray has taken on the added responsibility of caring for his brother on a full-time basis.

He was granted a waiver by the NCAA on Monday, September 11 and will be able to receive assistance in getting transportation for his brother to and from school. A trust fund will also be set up through a local bank that will benefit is brother in his daily basic needs. Details of the trust fund and how people can contribute will be known next week.

The original story in the Charleston Post and Courier on August 19 has led to an article in USA Today and Sports Illustrated had an item in Scorecard last week.

McElrathbey is a reserve defensive back who leads the Clemson team in special teams tackles with four in two games. He was named Clemson's Special Teams Player of the Week for the Florida Atlantic game on September 2.
