Future Tiger WR Impressive in Upset Win
The 6-1, 180 pound junior wide receiver prospect helped Blythewood defeat one of the state's top 3A programs Friday night, 22-8.
"It was a big game for us," Jones told CUTigers.com. "We prepared all week. We practiced hard 110% every day. I want to give credit to my offensive line. They have come a long way."
The star receiver put Blythewood on the board in the first quarter with an outstanding catch in the back of the end zone.
"It was a good touchdown," he said. "We worked very hard. We kind of checked off at the last minute. You got to be ready at all times. Never give up on any play. We know we have a good quarterback on this team. I just stepped it up and made a big play."
The Palmetto standout is just now getting back to full strength after suffering a high ankle sprain earlier in the year.
"It feels great now. I feel that I bring leadership to the team as well as everybody else. I feel like they need me so I step up to the plate," he said.
Coach Brad Scott spent Friday night watching Marquan and Blythewood upset Chester. "
I am hearing a good bit from Clemson," Jones said. "Everything is great right now. I have been up for every game. I hope I will be able to see some more. Things are going well for Clemson right now." The prize recruit also spoke with CUTigers.com about two of his younger teammates that will be hearing from the Tigers in the future.
"Perry Wilson is a sophomore receiver right now," he said. "We will see how he does in the future. He has played well and he has plenty of years left for him. We also have defensive end Justin Anderson who is 6-4, 225. He is pretty good. I am working them both hard for Clemson. I am doing what I can."
