CLEMSON - The Tigers close down their ACC schedule against N.C. State Saturday afternoon in Memorial Stadium.

GAME: N.C. State (3-6, 2-4) at Clemson (7-3, 4-3) 12:00 PM

SPREAD: Clemson by 17

COACHES: Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden is 59-36 (77-40 overall) in his eighth season with the Tigers. N.C. State head coach Chuck Amato is 49-34 in his seventh season with the Wolfpack.

SERIES: Overall, Clemson has a 46-27-1 lead in the series, including a 19-11 record in games played at Clemson. The Tigers are 16-11 against NC State in games played in Death Valley.

Chuck Amato is one win shy of becoming the third Wolfpack coach to win 50 or more games ... K John Deraney is eighth on the school's all-time scoring list with 189 points ... C Leroy Harris has started 41 straight games ... Darrell Blackman is second in the ACC and eighth nationally in kickoff returns (31.1) ... Blackman is averaging 29.5 yards on 35 career kickoff returns ... TE Anthony Hill leads the team in receptions (31) and receiving yardage (333) ... senior LB Patrick Lowery leads the team and is third in the ACC in tackles (8.8).

CLEMSON KEY PLAYER: QB Will Proctor. Proctor has struggled at various points in each of his last three games and is under the spotlight once again against the Wolfpack. He showed improvement in the second half against Maryland but he must even more in each of the next two games if the Tigers expect to win out.

CRAZY STAT OF THE WEEK: Seven of the last nine games between Clemson and N.C. State have been decided by eight points or less, with the most recent close game coming in 26-20 Tiger victory, a game that was decided on the last play of the game.
