Tigers play second exhibition of the weekend Sunday at 6:00 PM.
Clemson played the first of its two exhibition games in men's basketball Saturday evening at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium. The Tigers adapted to FIBA rules, which included a 24-second shot clock and four 10-minute periods, and went on to a sound victory by a score of 113-64 over a local club team.
Clemson shot 52.1 percent for the game and tallied 26 assists on its 49 made baskets. The Tigers collected 19 steals, including at least one by 12 of the 15 players that made the trip.
The Tigers jumped out to a 38-16 lead in the opening period, highlighted by several monster dunks from senior forward James Mays. Clemson tallied nine steals and seven offensive rebounds in the first period. After being outscored by a point in the second period, Clemson came back strong with a dominant third period.
The Tigers outscored the Bahamians 30-13 in the period. The final two points of the period came courtesy of a K.C. Rivers dunk off a steal and assist from freshman Jerai Grant. Each of the 15 players that traveled appeared in the game and all but one scored at least two points.
The Tigers return to action Sunday for their final exhibition game, which has been moved to 6:00 PM at the same venue.
