OL R.J. Mattes Profile

4-star offensive lineman R.J. Mattes took an official visit to Virginia over the weekend.

"I really enjoyed it a lot," he said. "I knew it was going to be a great atmosphere from the beginning. I hated the outcome of the game. They had lots of tailgaters. It was a great game. I went with my mom, dad and little sister."

It was the second straight weekend that Mattes had watched an ACC game for a division title as he visited Death Valley for the Boston College game a week earlier.

"It was pretty awesome. I can't lie to you. I was on the field with coach Napier before the game. He told me to imagine what it would be like to play in front of over 80,000. It was amazing," said Mattes.

The visit tour continues this weekend for the top lineman.

"I am going to North Carolina this weekend for an official visit," said Mattes.

The Tigers will get an official visit in January.

"I am going to Clemson on January 11 for their big weekend. I plan to go to South Carolina the following weekend," said Mattes.

Is there a chance Mattes could commit during a visit or does he plan to wait and take them all?

"I would say there is a chance, definitely," replied Mattes.

With his senior season over Mattes is enjoying the recruiting process.

"I am feeling the pressure now. I have to make my decision. I am still enjoying the process. The official visits are awesome. No matter where you go they treat you well and feed you well," said Mattes.

When asked if he has a leader, Mattes responded, "No, not yet."
