Super sophomore receiver Martavis Bryant (Calhoun Falls) committed to the Clemson Tigers on Saturday…
100 Percent Tiger
6-4, 175 pound speedster Martavis Bryant put a quick end to his recruitment Saturday when he committed to the Clemson coaching staff.
"I called coach Swinney over and told him I wanted to commit. He brought coach Bowden over and I told him. He was real happy. He shook my hand. He told me he was glad I was going to be a Tiger," said Bryant.
Bryant isn't preparing for his senior season, you see. He's getting ready for his junior year.
That's right, he's in the class of 2010.
So why did the super sophomore decide to commit to the Tigers?
"I have always liked Clemson. I always wanted to play for Clemson," replied Bryant. "My mom and I thought it would be the best decision to go ahead and commit. I knew I wanted to go to Clemson."
When asked how firm his commitment is to Clemson, Bryant responded, "I am 100 percent Tiger. I will be going to Clemson."
The future top 100 player enjoyed the Junior Day experience at Clemson.
"I enjoyed it," he said. "I talked with the coaches and all of that. I also got to talk with some of the players. I talked with Marquan. He just told me about school. We talked about what they do each day, the academics, the tutoring and the practices," said Bryant.
Strangely enough Bryant will have to play somewhere else next season because of changes at Calhoun Falls. The school is apparently closing down due to dwindling enrollment.
"I'm not sure where I will play yet. I have a lot of choices," said Bryant. "So we'll see what happens with that."
The talented receiver was a frequent visitor to Death Valley last fall.
"I went to three games last year," said Bryant. "They were always a lot of fun."
As a sophomore Bryant caught 47 passes for 803 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned eight kicks for 208 yards and eight punts for 107 yards and had 18 tackles as a cornerback.
He is currently projected by Scout.com to be a five-star prospect and one of the top players in the southeast.
