The Clemson Tigers will battle the nation’s best programs for the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation according to Scout.com. Which schools will get a visit over the next few months? When does he plan to narrow the field? CUTigers.com has these answers and more.

OL Xavier Nixon Profile

5-star offensive tackle Xavier Nixon has a college campus tour planned for spring break.

“For spring break we are going to take a road trip with my coach, his wife and one of my teammates. We are going to visit Tennessee, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia,” said Nixon.

The Tigers should get a visit later this spring.

“I am also going to visit some of the local schools like Clemson, but that won’t be during spring break,” said Nixon.

“I haven’t been on any visits. We just wrapped up basketball season. We lost in the East Regional finals. I did pretty good in the playoffs. I averaged about nine points and seven boards."

When asked if he had any favorites, Nixon responded, “Not at this moment. I will have a top ten around the end of spring.”

The Jack Britt (N.C.) standout got some good news this week.

“I actually have to go to Raleigh on Saturday to accept an invitation to play in the US Army All American game. That feels great,” said Nixon.

Academics will be very important to the prize recruit when he selects his college destination.

“First I want to decide on a major," he said. "Once I do that I will look into which schools provide that major. I will look at how successful people are that receive that degree. I will also look at playing time. I want to come in and make an impact my freshmen year."

Which school is recruiting Nixon the hardest right now?

“I would probably say Miami is recruiting me the hardest right now,” replied Nixon.

Don’t expect an early decision from the top lineman.

“It will probably be late into next year before I pick a school,” said Nixon.

Clemson assistant coach Chris Rumph is recruiting the top junior for the Tigers.
