Raper Checks Out Clemson Scrimmage

One of Clemson’s top commitments visited Death Valley to watch the Tigers scrimmage on Monday. CUTigers.com has the latest on one of the nation’s fastest players in this recruiting update.

Clemson verbal commitment Larry Raper traveled to Tigertown on Monday to watch his future teammates scrimmage.

“It went good,” he told CUTigers.com afterwards. “I went down with one of my teammates, Corvallis Murray, and my dad. We just watched the scrimmage.

“I got to talk with coach Bowden during the scrimmage. He was talking about the plays and how they did. That went good."

During the scrimmage Larry was able to talk with two of Clemson’s top recruits as well.

“I got to talk with Stephon and Devonte," he said. "We knew each other from the Scout combine last year. I asked them how they were doing. We watched the scrimmage together. I tried to do a little recruiting."

The prize recruit has been showing his speed on the track this spring and also preparing for his senior season.

“We just had a track meet today. I came in first in the 100. I ran a 10.8 flat. We won the 4 x 100 relay,” said Raper. “I have also been lifting. I have gained about eight pounds. I am about 168 right now."

The speedster talks with Clemson assistant coach Billy Napier frequently.

“I talk with coach Napier every weekend. We just talk about school and what I need to do to get better,” said Raper.

Some changes may be on the way for Larry and the Shelby (N.C.) offense next year.

“They say they may put me in the shotgun some this year. We will see if that works out or not,” he added.
