The Clemson Tigers now lead for one of the top linebackers in Georgia after a visit to Tigertown last week. Who are the Tigers battling for the prize recruit? When will he make a decision?

LB Corico Hawkins Profile

6-0, 220 pound Corico Hawkins visited two ACC schools during his spring break last week.

“I took two visits last week,” he told CUTigers.com in a recent interview. “I had spring break last week. I went to see Florida State and Clemson.”

What did he think of his two trips?

Florida State: “People have always told me how great their facilities are and about the history of the program. When I went down there I saw that what people had told me was true.”

Clemson: “I was very shocked about Clemson. I knew it was top notch, but their facilities were great. They have some great defensive linemen.”

When asked about his current favorites, Hawkins responded, “Right now it is Clemson, Florida and Auburn in that order.”

The decision timing on a verbal commitment is not clear at this time.

“I really don’t know. When I talk to my people and go over stuff. All of those things will play a major role. I need to talk with my family when I am ready, then we will let it out. It will just come when I have the right feeling,” said Hawkins.

What will be most important when the prize recruit selects his college destination?

“I will look at location," he said. "I will look at how far it will be for my family and friends to come see me play. I will look at how long it will take me to get on the field. That will depend on me and how I come in and work hard. I will look at the facilities and what they offer academically."

The Georgia standout has everything you could want in a linebacker.

“I like to run down hill to the football. I like to run sideline to sideline to make the play. I want to be the smartest player on the field. I have good instincts and I know the game of football,” said Hawkins.

Last fall Hawkins recorded 102 tackles, 12 for a loss, three forced fumbles, and two sacks.
