The Clemson Tigers have landed another big verbal commitment for the class of 2009. FB/LB Tyler Shatley, as first reported by CUTigers.com, has committed to the Clemson coaching staff.

Tyler Shatley has committed to Clemson, according to multiple sources, and now to Shatley himself.

"I just called coach Napier earlier tonight," he told CUTigers.com. "I told him I wanted to go ahead and commit to Clemson. He was pretty excited.

"I just really felt comfortable at Clemson. I had visited all the other schools I wanted to look at. I really felt comfortable there. I really like the coaches and the players at Clemson."

The 6-3, 260 pound fullback/linebacker prospect last visited Clemson on Saturday to watch the annual Orange & White game.

He also made an unofficial visit to Clemson earlier in the winter as well.

Shatley is the sixth verbal commmitment for the Tigers in the 2009 class, and according to him, there won't be any changing of his pledge.

"I am definitely going to backup my word. I am going to Clemson," he confirmed.

Shatley chose Clemson over offers from N.C. State and Maryland. His main recruiter to Tigertown is Clemson tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Billy Napier.

As a junior, Shatley rushed 213 times for 1,209 yards and 18 touchdowns playing as a fullback for East Burke High School.

While he could play on either side of the ball at the next level, Shatley believes he'll end up on offense.

"I will probably play tight end or h-back," he said. "But we will see."

If he continues to grow, he could also end up on the defensive line.
