CUTigers.com has learned Mike Morrell will be named the new Director of Basketball Operations.

Morrell served as a graduate assistant for head coach Oliver Purnell last season after coming to Clemson from King College (TN).

He fills a position which was left open by Josh Posterino, who was promoted to assistant coach at Clemson after former assistant Shaka Smart left to take a similar position at Florida last month.

As a graduate assistant, Morrell's primary responsibilities last season included film breakdown, organizing recruiting mail-outs, and providing assistance in opponent scouting.

Last season the Tigers reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 10 years.

An official announcement is expected later this week.
