Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden announced Friday that redshirt freshman QB Willy Korn will start next Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.

With all of the struggles on offense this season, Tommy Bowden announced Friday that backup quarterback Willy Korn will start against Georgia Tech next weekend.

"We needed to re-evaluate our plan and play a more mobile QB. We need to find a spark offensively. A more mobile quarterback gives you more options. That gives you a chance to make a positive play," he said.

"Korn will start Saturday."

The Tigers have scored just seven points in their last six quarters and were held to under 30 yards rushing last night against Wake Forest. In addition, Harper completed just 15-of-35 passes in the 12-7 loss to the Deacs.

Bowden said he called Cullen Harper, who like most of the team, has returned home for a couple of days.

"We called a couple of hours ago [and told Cullen]," Bowden said.

Bowden said he also sat down with offensive coordinator Rob Spence earlier today to make the decision, jointly.

"I sat down with Rob and voiced my opinions and I think he was in full agreement."

Korn has seen the field in a limited role since signing with the Tigers in Feb. 2007. He played in two games last season before being medically redshirted due to a shoulder injury.

This year, he's completed 14-of-18 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown.

He also has 18 yards rushing and another touchdown on five carries.

Korn, out of Byrnes High School, was ranked as the No. 8 quarterback in the nation by Scout.com for the 2007 recruiting class. He also played in the U.S. Army All-American game.

INJURY UPDATES: Bowden said the following about the injuries from Thursday night, "It's a hamstring. I don't know about him. I don't know about Cory Lambert. I've talked to Danny Poole today about Spiller, Lambert, Tyler Grisham and David Smith.

"I just don't have anything right now."

QUICK HITS: Bowden said Korn has had a "couple" of snaps with the first team in practice and that Korn will play the entire game against Georgia Tech. "He's not going to make one mistake and then come out," he said. He also said he contemplated making a move Thursday night against Wake Forest. ... Bowden said he has not been contacted by anybody within Clemson administration regarding his future as head coach. ... He also suggested Harper's injuries this year may have had "a little" bit to do with his performance so far this season. ... Clemson will practice Sunday night.

QUOTE TO NOTE: That's what we are going to re-evaluate... our plan of attack. We've got one touchdown in six quarters. This gives us more options with what we want to do." - Tommy Bowden on the state of the offense.
