The Clemson men's basketball team held a 40-minute intrasquad scrimmage Thursday at Littlejohn Coliseum.
The coaches mixed and matched players on opposing orange and purple teams and the two sides combined to shoot 16-38 (42.1 percent) from three-point range. The three-point line has been moved back one foot to 20'9" for the 2008-09 season.
Terrence Oglesby was the leading scorer on the night with 21 points. The sophomore from Cleveland, TN was 6-12 from beyond the three-point arc. He also added four assists in 32 minutes. Another strong sophomore, Demontez Stitt, had a strong night as well. The returning starter at point guard notched 13 points and eight assists and played nearly every minute.
Trevor Booker was outstanding in almost every facet of the game, producing 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in 30 minutes of play. Booker made 9 of his 16 field goal attempts. Also strong on the inside for the Tigers was Jerai Grant, who was an efficient 7-9 from the floor. The Bowie, MD native finished with 15 points in 28 minutes.
K.C. Rivers also had a strong all-around performance, playing 34 minutes all for the Orange team. The senior tallied 19 points on 7-14 shooting and also added nine rebounds. Fellow senior Raymond Sykes finished with seven points and four rebounds.
Of the four first-year freshmen, Romanian center Catalin Baciu posted nine points and nine rebounds. He played 29 minutes in the scrimmage. Andre Young, a point guard from Albany, GA, struggled from the field but did have six assists and five steals against zero turnovers in 36 minutes of action.
The team will play host to Division II foe USC Aiken in its only public exhibition on Thursday, November 6. The game, which will start at 7:30 PM, will be free admission to the general public. Clemson's first regular season game will be November 14 against Hofstra in the Charleston Classic.
